DUBAI, UAE. As a part of an ongoing initiative to ‘give back’ to the local community, ASGC recently sponsored a business plan competition, organized by students from leading Dubai schools. Running for a second year straight, The Dubai High School Business Plan Competition provided budding entrepreneurs a chance to present their business ideas before a judging panel and compete for a grand prize. Following a three month preparation period, 10 teams presented their plans. The winner chosen by the judging panel was LifeReserve, a directory and booking app.
Thanks to ASGC’s and other sponsors’ contributions, a prize pool of AED 115,000 was formed and distributed to the top three teams in the competition. Money awards were earmarked for tuition and school related fees for the winners. Furthermore, the judging panel included Mr. Bishoy Azmy, CEO of ASGC, and three other highly successful corporate executives.
“In order to build a knowledge based economy in the UAE, we have to focus on supporting grassroot entrepreneurship,” stated Mr. Azmy after the event. “By grooming the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs early on, we ensure that UAE will remain a magnet for new business activity and also develop the skill base necessary to compete in the global economy. It was an extreme pleasure for me today to see these bright young minds present their ideas and tackle real life business challenges. Their savvy and determination gave me great hope for the next generation. We fully intend ASGC to become a perennial sponsor of this great event, “he said.
True to its founding spirit, ASGC is proud to be a socially responsible corporate citizen, and will actively seek initiatives that contribute to the common good of its community.
